This fascinates me. There was no room for Jesus on earth. God, who literally made heaven and earth had no place to lay His own head.
Why didn’t God land here in glory? Wouldn’t the world be more inclined to believe Jesus if He had come like Michael Jordan or Fred Rogers?
His brothers whined about the very same thing. “Show yourself to the world.” Jn 7:4 His own family pressured Him to prove Himself—build a platform, wow the world, make a name for yourself Jesus.
But Jesus wasn’t devoted to basketball. He was devoted to you. Jesus had zero interest in being a paid TV celebrity. Jesus was 100% committed to you. Jesus was a gift. Jesus didn’t need a room in the inn—because God made room for Himself in us. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.” Rom 6:23
Give us wisdom here, Lord. Give us insight. That we may know You, love You, worship You and not ourselves—which only leads to loneliness and despair. The wages of sin is death, but the gift, the gift, the gift of God is Jesus. Who not only forgives our rejection of only one holy God, but rubs sin out with His perfect blood.
“Therefore God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.” Phil 2:9
Father please help me to follow in the way you only want not mine.
