“Be full.” ~John 15:11

In this section of scripture Jesus keeps repeating: abide in My love, fruit will come—and I heard this like the big finale…your joy will be full.

Here’s where it falls apart in my ears: I’m focused, not on abiding in Jesus’s love—but filling up on joy. My motivation is all screwed up. I want cake, but I’m not interested in the baker. And it pains me to say so.

We gotta know we’re loved you guys.

I get it, repentance is the opening song. And we’ll repeat it a million times. But no one truly experiences the music without the joy of living loved. We’ll never be full bypassing love. No love, no fruit, no joy.

Lord, teach us what it means to abide in Your love. Tear out the roots of our selfish motives. Fill us with the joy we’ve yet to understand. Amen.

It amazes me how a few words can change a life.
