“Without the true God.” 2 Chronicles 15:3

Distress is a warning signal that we need God. Better communication skills, a change of scenery, a tighter budget, increased exercise, refocused goals, diet changes will not bring the peace we so desperately seek. These may be a result of our turning to God—but they are not the true God.

This morning I need to sit still and figure out what my heart desires.

What gets you out of bed? What stimulates your work appetite? Who are you hoping to impress? What will you try to avoid? Where is your heart pointing, that when this day has ended, you will find peace ruling your heart?

Evil loves when we run like the devil and never take time to ask ourselves aligning questions. Don’t fall for it. What we desire on Sunday easily slips out from under us by Monday.

“Take care lest you forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.” (Deuteronomy 6:12)

It amazes me how a few words can change a life.
