Do you need to see Jesus with your own eyes? You’ve heard the stories, witnessed the change in people’s faces, felt the pull to see for yourself if what they’ve said is true. But you’ve refused. For whatever reason; fear, apathy, stubbornness, pride—you’re holding fast past convictions that what they spread is too good to be true. Those radicals haven’t a clue.
Apparently, the Queen of Sheba had heard enough. A woman of authority, power, and smarts had to see what the fuss was about, she had to see for herself. No longer were rumors enough for her curious heart. Unable to resist another day, she traveled the long journey to see Solomon’s wisdom firsthand.
The Queen of Sheba packed her longing heart and left, unsure of what wonder waited for her. Bringing by camel all the gifts she could carry; spices, gold, and precious stones, we read, “There was nothing hidden from Solomon that he could not explain to her.”
This is what I know, what I’ve seen with my own eyes: reports about Jesus are everywhere. If you want a moral life, a safe holiday, to do your part making the world a better place—you won’t need to go far. But if your heart is being pressed to make the journey, to leave behind the bagage you’ve accumulated, to finally bring all your hard questions to God, I promise you—His wisdom is more than your short life can carry.
All that God has accomplished for you, will take your breath away.
