We can think our lives too small. Reduce ourselves to mere flesh and bone.
If I could just kick the winning goal, impress enough friends, climb the tallest tree…then I’d surely taste greatness. Wishes like this don’t even brush up against your significance my dear sweet friend. We’ve got to think deeper, wider, higher than what only hands and feet can reach.
There was a boy following Jesus who had five barley loaves and two fish. Where did this stock boy come from? Was he so into Jesus that he was readying himself for any opportunity to serve his Teacher? No one can say. Point is…this boy was close to Jesus, was willing to give whatever he could, and God used him to glorify Himself.
This is such a big big lesson for me as a Christ follower. I want us all to hear this: Jesus has bigger plans for you. And it’s not to be the best at anything before being with Him.
Every competition must end. Impressible friends are fickle at best. The highest climb our legs could ever achieve will never compare to our following behind the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst” (vs 35)
