“Go, wash in the pool of Siloam.” ~John 9:7

Why does Jesus go through this process of spitting, making clay, anointing the eyes, and sending the blind man to wash? Why not speak it, and make it so? Why not touch and heal this time? Why 4 steps? Spitting, making, anointing, sending. I don’t get it.

Here’s where the Holy Spirit reveals. Right here in the midst of sincere questions. Taking the word in hand is taking His hand. Following the words on the page is coming under the direction of His voice.

And in my quickened spirit I see, a child that’s me. A Father lovingly demonstrating the steps of risking, believing, understanding, and responding. There is an order to lasting transformation. An it isn’t instant gratification.

It amazes me how a few words can change a life.
